Dutch Braid with Twisted Wrap Bun

All these hair titles are starting to sound the same to me. I think I'm getting worse and making them up.
Oh well.

I saw a similar 'do on pinterest and wanted to try it. If I had extensions I would pack them on the top and make the braid across the front super huge but for now I'll just tug the hair out to make the braid bigger. The last pic is what I got the first time I tried it. I think it still works but the braid definitely needs to be pinned down. Will you try this look?

Memorial Weekend: Moab

AJ gets on my case sometimes because this blog is called "My Soul is the Sky" but I rarely actually post about our flying excursions. I think he says that just because he wants to go flying more. Truthfully, I chose that for my blog name because both he and I are pilots. Yet if I only posted about flying then there'd only be a new post once every few months. Long story short, this blog title is more symbolic than truth.

On Memorial Day we decided to take two of our good friends and fly down to Moab. I've never officially been there and neither has AJ so it was really fun to try out the local food, hike around the arches and see the local shops in town. Not to mention the weather was perfect for it.

Did you have a good weekend?

Friday, My-day, Bye-day, Friday!

[As requested / Hat: Tilly's / Shirt: A&F]
Any plans for Memorial Day?
We actually have plans to go to an air show on Saturday but it might rain now so those plans are pending. On Monday though we're taking some friends and flying to Moab. We try to go flying every two months or so and usually just pick a random destination not too far away. With the weather being on the warmer side lately we're hoping to hike around some of the arches down in southern Utah and grab a burger at a local restaurant. Let's hope the weather cooperates. Wish us luck!

Have a super fabulous weekend.

Two French Braids: Inspired by Nicole Richie

Super messy, super random. Perfect farm girl style. Let's go haul some hay.

I pinned this style two different ways when I was trying it out. Once I pulled the tails under the french braid and pinned and the other way I pulled the tails over the top and pinned. I believe the first picture shows the braid pulled over the top and the third pictures shows it pulled under. Either way works and just depends on your preference. I also didn't part my hair at all so that created a more disheveled separation between the two french braids.

What I Wore

Jeans: Levis / Top: F21 / Cardigan: F21 / Necklace: Urban Outfitters / Flats: Primark

It's been really cold lately so I've reverted back to wearing pants and cardigans. I've recently become obsessed with flats and they're now my go-to shoe. This cardigan and top combo is my current favorite. I can't wait til it's warm and I can just wear the butterfly top by itself!

Summer Treats

I'm not usually a big hat wearer but when I glanced over and saw this hanging on the wall at Tilly's it was whispering for me to take it home. I'm a little nervous to wear it but think it'd be perfect at the pool and on family trips this summer.

When I saw that AE was having their "buy one get one half off" sale on jewelry I browsed through their earrings and saw these pearl earrings. Suddenly I remembered that I had lost my only pair a few months ago. I also noticed these hoops and have been toying with the idea of getting some. I was never allowed to wear big hoops when I was a little girl so it's a little bold for me but I gave in to their beckoning call and took the plunge.

I have been searching for the perfect natural lip color. I saw a few recommendations from this video and decided the Viva Glam V by MAC is exactly what I've been looking for. While I was shopping around Macy's I also decided to get a new foundation from bareMinerals. Mine recently ran out and I did a post about recycling the old container for a broken bronzer.

Who dyes your hair?

I get asked this question fairly often but I'll let you in on my secret. Usually, I do it myself.

There have been times when I've gone into a salon but I prefer to do it myself.  Since I've been sporting the au naturale look a lot lately I finally decided that I needed a small boost of color. So here is my method.

My Two Favorite Guys

I love you two more than you'll ever know.

Have A Great Weekend!

Honey Lime Enchiladas

The first time I had these was at my friend Tessa's and I thought I'd died on gone to heaven. I didn't even know an enchilada could taste this good. As soon as I got my hands on this recipe I started making it whenever we had company over for dinner. Now AJ and I have them almost every week. He calls them "o...gasmic."

Ingredients
3-4 chicken breasts
1/3 cup honey
1/4 lime juice
2 Tbsp chili powder
2 - 10 oz cans of enchilada sauce
1 cup half and half cream
8 medium sized tortillas
1 can of black beans [optional]
shredded cheese blend

Thaw 3-4 chicken breasts and throw them in the crock pot. Cover with the honey, lime juice, and chili powder. Cook for 2 1/2 hours on low. Shred chicken breasts while in the crock pot. Add in the black beans and continue cooking for about 20-30 more minutes.

Heat oven to 350 degrees.
Pour entire can of enchilada sauce in 9x11 baking pan, covering the entire bottom.  Spoon chicken and bean mixture into tortilla, cover in cheese, roll up and place into baking pan. Continue until all the chicken and beans are used up. [Sometimes it spills over into another pan]. Pour second can of enchilada sauce and half/half cream into leftover honey sauce mixture in crockpot. Stir together. Then pour over tortillas in baking dish and cover with shredded cheese.

Bake for 30 minutes. Garnish with sour cream and salsa.
Dive in. You'll think you've died and gone to heaven.

Currently Loving: Hats

Summer is practically here with weather hitting in the 90s. I am loving the cool summer hats everywhere. They're perfect for blocking the hot sun while cruising around town and lounging at the pool. Will you be wearing a hat this summer?

My #1 Skin Secret

Photoshop. Just kidding.
Growing up, I was that girl that maybe had 6 pimples total from the time I was 10-18 years old. I know. I never ever ever really thought about acne until I got married, tried out "the pill" and BAM! It all came at me with a vengeance. It had been waiting years deep beneath my skin. Plotting and planning the most perfect and vulnerable time to strike. So I must tell you that I am quite sensitive about my chin and am admitting to you that I touch it up every now and then in my pictures. I'm telling you because I've searched far and wide for different treatments and just want to share with you what I've done to help heal it.

How I Eyebrow

I have super blonde eyebrows. Okay okay not super blonde, regular blonde. I always thought my eyebrows were just fine until I walked into Sephora one day and the sales woman attacked me with the Anastasia eyebrow kit. Suddenly my eyebrows were only sub par and begging to be darkened every day after that. So I walked out of there a bunch of dollars lighter and now my eyebrows are thanking me, on a daily basis, because they feel naked now if I leave the house without them done.
