Two Twists Wrap

I saw this really cute hairstyle on pinterest and thought I'd give it a try. I tried wrapping it like the pictures show but ended up with a slightly different look. It seems very Little House on the Prairie to me. I found a similar look that I think I'll try out later. Have you tried this look?

Spring Trend #8: The Maxi Skirt

I love this trend because it's so easy-breezy.  Though I'd love to get a nice flowy one like Nicole Richie seems to always been wearing.

What do you think?

Half-Knot with Wrap Bun

How was your weekend?

Mine was too short; it always is but no one likes a complainer.
On Saturday we went to the Le Nonne restaurant in Logan. It was a nice place and the bread and pesto they started us with was delicious. When our meals came however we were both a little disappointed. We're not ruling the whole place out of course because we both think we simply ordered poorly. I usually ask for what's most popular on the menu and this time just went with what I thought would be good. We both got ravioli's but it wasn't really ravioli. It looked like three layers of lasagne noodles with spinach and ricotta wrapped inside then swimming in a cube of melted butter. AJ's had veal and he kept saying it tasted gritty. They were very rich dishes and I could barely gulp down half of it before I gave up trying to eat it.

I finished the first two seasons of Downton Abbey and we've continued our trek through the first season of Heroes. Have you watched either of these? How do you like them? Downton Abbey seems too rushed for me. A disaster happens but by the end of the episode it's resolved. I wish they spend a little more time hammering out the details.

On Sunday, I wore this hairstyle to church and when AJ and I had to teach the 13 year old class, the girls were so amazed by my hair. So hopefully it's something you'll try out. Afterwards we took a drive and cruised through the surrounding area of where we're possibly going to live come Spring. It's crazy to think we're starting over and will need to find new favorites like grocery stores, restaurants, redbox's, gas stations etc. We also browsed around looking for other apartment complexes that we might've skipped over in the beginning of our search.

It was a nice laid-back weekend. I love being able to spend time with just AJ without a lot of happenings and get-togethers. I did have a number of quotes to share but unfortunately most of them are inappropriate. Think Michael Scott from the Office. I hope your weekend was wonderful.

Spring Trend #7: Denim Shorts

I most likely will not be wearing these short cut-offs though I would love to. I tend to wear my shorts a little longer. So wear them for me!

Tips:
Try cuffing them to a flattering length.
Wear with a high-rise and pair with ankle booties.
Try a tailored blazer to add polish.

Inspiration Lately

I have been so in love with skinny jeans, gold jewelry, and biker boots lately.
Where do you get your style inspiration?

Spring Trend #6: The Red Jacket

Tips:
Wear it with little animal print.
Pair it with fitted jeans and a neutral scarf.
Wear it with all black for a kick of color.

Classic Cinnamon Buns

There is nothing I love more than hot cinnamon rolls in the morning. Or really any time for that matter. Soft bread smothered with butter, cinnamon, and glaze. Mmm!

Spring Trend #5: Pencil Skirt

I wear one of these almost every day of my life. Sometimes it's terrible. Most days its terrible. But it's a job and that pencil skirt is one of the most flattering things to wear. So here's to the pencil and pens in my office.

Loop Knot

It's Friiiiday!!!!
Who came up with these words? Friday should be Yayday. Monday should be Moanday. [That sounds dirty.] Wednesday, Humpday. Or Midday if you're not into the hump. Whatever. I'm just happy tomorrows Saturday. Can you even believe February is almost over? It's like the most dreaded month of the year because it's so dreary and it's already almost over. It's amazing. What are you doing this weekend?

I really want to go to an Italian restaurant I just found out about called Le Nonne . It's up in Logan and I have a secret love affair with the city of Logan. Why don't I just move there? I should. It's supposed to be amazing food according to my boss man and the owner is Italian so he knows his stuff apparently.

I recently started the TV series Downton Abbey. Have you seen it? I've heard people at work rave about it and when we talk about it they always say, "Just wait, it gets better;" like some crazy dragon is gonna pop out and start eating everyone. It's drama but it's not out of this world awesome. Maybe it does get better.

We've had roofers at our house the past two days fixing it from the big wind storm. We've started packing up some stuff in boxes particularly the kitchen necessities since we haven't used any of wedding gifts because we moved into a house stock-piled with everything anyone would ever need.

I keep thinking about this new apartment we're probably moving into. Probably because we haven't sign the lease but they're holding it for us. It's just expensive. More expensive than I've ever paid and I guess it's because we're paying for two of us instead of having a roommate to split it with. It seems like a lot and then they stack on utilities, renters insurance, internet and cable. Uh! curse the technology world that we live in with it's cable bills and internet access. Ha, I would perish without it. We also have zero furniture except our bed. I looked online a bit for a couch and it seems exasperating. Used or new? Black or brown? Leather or microfiber? It just makes me want to lay down and plank right on the carpet. *sigh. Drama on the home front. I should just stop thinking about it and go make some oatmeal.

Spring Trend #4: The Full Skirt

Ha! I've been sporting this trend for years. Even when it wasn't a trend.
I love it. What about you?

February Birchbox

What's in my box:

Benta Berry - Moisturizing Face Cream: This was wonderful. I love getting face cream.

Colorescience pro - Glow and Go travel Puff: This seems interesting though I'm a little scared to use it.

Eye Rock - Designer Liner: I don't know if I'll ever really use this.

La Fresh - Eco-beauty Waterproof Makeup Remover: This is the first makeup removing wipe that doesn't burn my eyes but it smelled like something expired sitting in my grandma's bathroom.

Nail File: Such a cute nail file and convenient to keep in my purse.

Green River Ordinance digital download: I've never heard of them so I'm interested to see how their music sounds.

*Notice: This is my last Birchbox.
I'm gonna use the $10 and get a gym pass for the upcoming bikini season. Yeah baby :)

Spring Trend #3: Platform Wedge

I love this trend!
I've already got a pair that I'm excited to start stomping around in.

What about you?

Hunger Games

It's official.
Tickets for the Hunger Games Movie are officially on sale. I can't wait for the movie to come out. I just hope it's as good as the book. But when does that ever happen?
I'm Team Peeta all the way!
What team are you?

Fishtail Braids: Inspired by Carey Mulligan

If you don't have time for the whole video, jump to the end and you'll catch a little "AJ Intervention" (:

I hope you're having a good hump day. I think we finally found a place to live! So exciting. It's closer to my work but still close to my siblings and parents house. It's so fun to be moving, living in our own place, and embarking on a new adventure. Though it is just an apartment. I'm addicted to moving. It'll be stressful, nerve-wracking, and exciting all in one. I'm gonna be all over pinterest finding decorating ideas and easy ways to store stuff. I've been waiting for this for a year and half!

Spring Trend #2: Bright Pants

Not just jeans my loves, but real adult pants. I am honestly a little afraid to sport this trend. I have a hard time wearing color as it is!

Do you love this trend or hate it?

The Melting Pot

I guess technically this was for Valentine's Day but I loved the idea that we just went here for fun. We got the four course meal and started with the spinach artichoke dip, followed by individual salads, then a broth base where we cooked chicken, beef, steak, tuna, shrimp, and vegetables, and finished with the yin yang chocolate and multiple treats to dip.

The experience was so awesome and the food was so yummy that it just made the whole thing so great. I'm really happy that we were finally able to try this place out. If you ever get a chance, I'd highly recommend it.

Quote of the Day:
Me: "Are you sure you know where we're going?"
AJ: "Babes, chills."

Spring Trend #1: Prints

It's that time again!
Spring Fashion Fever.
Oh my, I am so excited for the weather to start warming up and to see bright colors and soft pastels all over the place.

To kick-off what to wear for Spring, we have Prints!

Some tips:
Wear smal prints where you're bigger and big prints where you're smaller to even out your curves.
Mix your prints but not the type of print. Sitck with one category and have at least one color in common.
Pick solid accessories to go along with your printed look.

Four Braids to Bun: Inspired by Nicole Richie

I love this look because I love wearing my hair up and I get so tired of always wearing the same old french braid. Plus it's super easy-peasy to do.

What do you think of this look?

Weekend Update

On Saturday, AJ went air-softing with some friends so I ran a bunch of errands. I went to Target with the intent to buy a new pillow case but came home with a new swim suit bottom, v-neck tees, a white turtleneck, eye-liner, and new hair ties. I also discovered when I went to fill my prescription that I'd been taking a prescription for Raymond V. Luckily we were both prescribed the same medicine and the labels were swapped.

That night we went to...The Meling Pot! It was so fun. It was so darn expensive but I've been wanting to go there for years so I was actually more excited for the atmosphere than the food itself. Though the food ended up being better than I'd dreamed. I'll post pics about that later.

After dinner we went and saw This Means War. It was a good movie but didn't end like I wanted. She didn't choose the guy I liked best and I realized the movie was probably written by a man because if it'd been written by a woman, Reese Witherspoon would've chosen differently and it would've had a chick-flick feel. *sigh. Oh well.

Sunday it snowed so I brushed all the snow off the cars and deep cleaned the dining room. We're moving in a month so I wanted to get it ready for when we're out of here. It was intense with the sweeping, mopping, window wiping, re-arranging but I love having the room clean and organized now.

On Sunday night, AJ and I discovered the TV series Heroes so we watched about a million episodes since he "accidentally" signed up for Netflix.

How was your weekend?

Quotes from the Weekend:
Me: "I have pretty muscular legs."
AJ: "I bet you squat a lot."
Me: "That sounds like, "I bet you poop a lot."
AJ: "I meant you can squat a lot."
Me: "That doesn't sound any better."
-------------
Me: "Do you really think we'll have kids some day?"
AJ: "Yeah, they'll all be mistakes."
-------------
[Laying on the couch watching Heroes]
Me: "What are you doing?"
AJ: "My arm is falling asleep."
Me: "Put it to your side right here."
AJ: "But that feels awkward."
Me: "Come on. I always have to do awkward things when we make-out."

Old Fashioned Doughnuts

Oh my I love old fashioned doughnuts. You know, the ones that are more of a cake than a dough. I've never been a really big fan of glazed donuts so when I found this recipe I was so excited to give it a try.

Old Fashioned Doughnuts
adapted slightly from Doughnuts

1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon fresh grated nutmeg
pinch of salt
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup plain yogurt or sour cream
1 large egg
1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
vegetable oil for frying

In a medium bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, nutmeg, salt, and sugar.

In a separate small bowl, whisk together yogurt (or sour cream), egg, and melted butter.  Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and fold together until well incorporated.  The dough will take some smooshing to gather into a dish.  It will be like a slightly more moist biscuit dough.  Wrap bowl in plastic wrap and place in the fridge to rest for 15 minutes.

Place a candy/fry thermometer in a medium saucepan.  Pour oil into the pan until it is about 2-inches deep.

Heat oil over medium-low heat.

On a lightly floured work surface, roll bough to a 1/2-inch thickness.  Cut doughnuts with a 2 1/2-inch round cutter, and cut a hole with a smaller circle cutter.

When oil reaches 360 degrees F, fry 2 or 3 doughnuts at a time for about 1 minute on each side.  Doughnuts will be golden brown.  Carefully pull out, drain, and let rest on towel paper.

Necklace and Earring Frame

I have had my eye on one of these for so long that when AJ surprised with this one for Valentine's Day I was ecstatic. He made the whole thing himself too! Though I do not have the step-by-step photos he told me he bought the frame at Michaels, the pegs and knobs at Hobby Lobby, and the screen at Home Deport. Can you even believe it?! I can't even believe how perfect it is. I seriously was so excited when I walked into our room and saw it hanging up on the wall with my necklaces already adorning it. He said there's still a bunch of screen left over so I'm thinking if I can make one maybe I could host it in a giveaway...

What do you think?!
